Here For The Animals…
The Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) was founded in 1868, and in 1913, Frances Elizabeth Wilson went on to establish the Jersey Animal Shelter.
Shocked and saddened by the number of pets washed up on beaches having drowned through neglect and abandonment, Frances Elizabeth Wilson was on a mission to change public attitudes towards animals. As the shelter grew, so did the demands for better facilities and support. In 1925, the JSPCA formed a Committee to assist Frances Wilson in her work. In 1936, through the sheer determination and dedication of Frances Wilson, her sister, and the small but committed team, the JSPCA and Jersey Animal Shelter joined forces, changing the future of care and animal welfare in Jersey.
Today, our team is proudly made up of vets, vet nurses, carers, welfare officers and volunteers, all of whom passionately deliver care to hundreds of lost, injured, and vulnerable animals each year.
